Great news for achievement hunters with a penchant for customization! You can now earn achievements in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition worlds with add-ons installed. This means that you can customize your game based on your unique needs and tastes and still get recognition for reaching the landmark moments in a Minecrafter’s journey, such as “Bake Bread,” “Delicious Fish,” and let’s not forget “The Lie!” Am I hungry? No, why do you ask?
Not only can you earn the achievements, but you’ll also receive the associated rewards, which include stylish Character Creator items and emotes! If the haters make fun of me for pairing the Ocelot Print Pants with the Tye Dye Top, now I can simply step into a Phantom frame and leave them behind. If mixing patterns is wrong, I don’t want to be right!
Wait, what are add-ons?
Add-ons are a new category of Minecraft Marketplace content that we launched in 2024. Like Java Edition mods, add-ons allow you to add expanded functionality to your existing Bedrock Edition worlds by introducing gameplay mechanics, items, mobs, and much more. They are made by community creators and include ports of some popular Java Edition mods such as Naturalist, Tinker’s Construct, and Decocraft. These are all official ports of the Java mods made either by or in close collaboration with the original Java creators, and we are working with various Java creators to bring more to you soon!
Where can I get add-ons?
You can get add-ons from Minecraft Marketplace! You can purchase them using Minecoins but there’s also a selection of free add-ons available for download, including scary or regular furniture, poisonous potato... everything, immersive soundscapes, and of course, pets!!!*
What are achievements?
Achievements are special awards that you earn by doing certain things or reaching milestones while playing Minecraft. They range from very simple activities like punching a tree until it drops a block of wood (unlike IRL, where the only thing you earn is pain) to more complicated ones like leading a caravan containing at least five llamas (aka living the dream). Earning achievements also increases your Gamerscore, which is the Xbox achievement system that spans all Xbox games.
Where can I view my achievements?
Just click on your profile in the main menu of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and you will see a section showing your most recent achievements. Click on that to see your completed, in-progress, and locked achievements.
Are achievements enabled for all add-ons?
Yes, achievements are enabled for all add-ons.
Is there a limit to how many add-ons I can install and still earn achievements?
There is no limit to the number of Add-Ons you can install while earning achievements, but we do recommend that you are careful how many add-ons you stack, particularly on lower-performance devices.
Does this apply to all platforms?
Yes! You’ll be able to earn achievements with add-ons installed on all platforms.
I've been playing with add-ons for a while in some of my worlds. Will I retroactively receive the achievements I earned in those worlds?
We cannot retroactively award achievements. You will be able to earn them going forward, though!
If I use a mod that isn't from Minecraft Marketplace, does that also qualify for earning achievements?
No, only add-ons that are released via Minecraft Marketplace will allow achievements to be enabled. We do this to protect our players and avoid any mods that would allow you to unfairly earn a large number of achievements in a short period of time.
Don’t add-ons make it easier to earn achievements? What measures is Mojang Studios taking to prevent abuses of this feature?
Yes, some add-ons may indirectly make it easier to earn achievements. For example, any enhanced weapons, gear, or food will likely make it easier to defeat the Ender Dragon. However, we believe that the majority of players just want to play the game, and many see earning achievements as an important part of the experience. We don't want them to miss out on the fun of earning achievements just because they are using an add-on. To prevent add-ons from posing an unfair advantage, we have put new policies in place for creators to prohibit add-ons that are specifically designed to earn difficult achievements or as many achievements as possible.
So put on your poisonous potato armor, bring along an exotic pet, and get ready to live your best Cow Tipper life! Just maybe cover your animal companion’s eyes first.
