Happy Holidays!

From everyone at Minecraft.net! Even Marsh!

We're speeding towards the end of 2017 and it's been another amazing 365 days for Minecraft. A year that brought us Better Together, the World of Colour update, New 3DS and Nintendo Switch editions, and – perhaps most significantly of all – the strange decision not to fire me. Hooray!

We also interviewed tons of members of the Minecraft community - then featured their brilliant builds (and the stories behind them) on this site! Some of my favourites include when we discovered Atlantis, the build that blew up the moon, Mona Lisa's Minecraft makeover, this brain-melting take on MC Esher and the time I let Emily write about a giant snail.

Emily wrote about this charming build and later told me that she felt she "really snailed it". Completely coinicidentally, my new years resolution is to ban puns from this website. And Emily.

During the holidays, we'll be locking up Mojang HQ and visiting our respective families to once again try to convince them this is a real job (”Yes, writing about digital blocks is a career, Dad. No, why don't YOU go back to law school?!”). This means we'll be posting a little less regularly over the next couple of weeks.

BUT! We'll still be posting a few stories, including some excellent builds from the Minecraft community. There might even be a little surprise announcement on December 25th too...

EMILY: Ugh, I can't believe we let Tom write the holiday article. So I'm gonna take over! Here's some fun stats to keep you lightly entertained. You do love stats, right? I heard you really wanted stats this year.

  • Number of articles published on Minecraft.net: 376!
  • Your all time favourite Block of The Week was: Grass! Weird, but sure. I mean, if you're a cow, I guess?
  • The number of times Emily laid down a sick pun in the strapline only for Tom to later delete it in a fit of rage: Too many times to count.

Wow, that's a lot of statistics. Perhaps... too many.

Anyway, hop along now, go and enjoy the festivities with your family and friends! We hope you'll be having a wonderful time and we're looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year! We might even bring you the gift of more stats! But don't get too excited.

Happy holidays!
